You’ve just unboxed your new favourite soy scented candle. It smells amazing, the wooden wick gives off a soft crackle, and your space is already feeling like a cozy retreat. But how do you make sure that magical candle lasts as long as it should?
We use FSC® certified wooden wicks for a clean burn free from chemicals, and to give a cozy vibe-they sound like a mini fireplace in your tin, however, they need a little love & care from their new owners.
Why We Love Wooden Wicks
Wooden wicks aren’t just aesthetically beautiful—they're better for the environment and offer a unique burn experience. Here's why we use them in our eco conscious candles:
-
Sustainably sourced and biodegradable, we only use FSC® certified wicks.
-
Produces a soft crackling sound like a mini fire
-
Creates a modern, horizontal flame for an even burn
-
Improves scent throw in soy wax candles
Burn smarter, not faster...here’s how to get the most out of your soy candles.
We’ve got you covered. With just a few easy tricks, you can extend the life of your candle, get a more even burn, and make the most of every drop of that delicious scent.
Lighting your wooden wick: Hold the tin at a slight angle, & hold the flame on the wick until it draws the flame across the width of the wood.
Even melt pool: Allow wax to melt completely to avoid the wax tunnelling, melted wax should cover the tin from one side to another. It’s tempting to let it go all day, but over-burning leads to soot buildup and wasted scent throw.
Stick to 2–4 hour burn sessions to keep the candle performing at its best. Always leave 1/4 inch wax at the bottom of your tin, then clean it out and re use or recycle it.
Trim your wick: Keeping your wick trimmed will keep your candle burning longer, make sure you trim your wick before each use to about 5mm (1/4 inch). Do this by using your finger tips or a wick trimmer to break off any charred wood from the wick & remove any debris from the candle.
Keep It Away from Drafts. Drafty areas like open windows, vents, or fans can cause the flame to flicker too much, leading to uneven burns and tunneling.
Store it right: Keep your scented candle in a cool, dry place when not in use. Heat and direct sunlight can cause the wax to soften or lose scent strength over time. Our tins have lids, replacing the lids after in between burns once they have cooled will help keep the scent stronger.
Re use and recycle your tins: Once you’ve burned through your candle (go you!), clean out your tin with warm water and soap. Soy wax is easy to remove, and our tins make great storage for cotton buds, spices, office supplies, or even mini plants (we love a mini cactus for those salty desert vibes). Our tins and their lids, including all our labels are fully recyclable.
