Hi I'm Clare the founder of Kernowfornia Soul® As a former Pro World Champion figure athlete and elite-level coach, I spent years immersed in the fitness industry, dedicated to health, discipline, and performance. But behind the scenes, I battled with chronic pain, stress, and the long-term impact of pushing my body too hard.
When I began to slow down, reconnect with nature, and explore a more balanced lifestyle, I realised that true wellness isn’t just about what we eat or how we move, it’s also about the air we breathe and the products we surround ourselves with at home.
That’s why I created Kernowfornia Soul® a clean, conscious home fragrance brand rooted in wellness, sustainability, and the healing power of scent. I didn’t want harmful chemicals in my candles, especially after living a life so focused on health. So every candle we make is hand-poured using natural soy wax, non-toxic fragrance oils, and vegan, clean-burning ingredients, because what you breathe should support your wellbeing, not compromise it.
Crafted by the sea in Cornwall and inspired by the laidback energy of California, our candles are more than just a scent, they’re a daily ritual of restoration and calm.
My husband, Dr. Ian Hendy, is a marine biologist and three-time World Champion bodybuilder. He’s spent much of his career restoring damaged ecosystems across the globe, from coral reefs to Cornwall’s precious kelp forests. His work fuels our mission to give back to the oceans that inspired us.
Together, we handcraft natural soy candles that smell divine, burn clean, and give back to the ocean. From our small studio in Newquay, Cornwall, we blend the wildness of the Cornish coast with the laidback spirit of California, and call it Kernowfornia
