FAQs

What are eco conscious soy candles

Our soy candles are made from 100% natural, renewable soy wax, a biodegradable alternative to paraffin. They're clean-burning as we only use fragrance oils which are free from Paraben's and Phthalates, and are hand poured with love to reduce environmental impact. We also use FSC® certified wooden wicks, and all our tins and packaging is fully recyclable.

Why choose soy scented candles over paraffin candles?

Soy wax burns longer and cleaner than paraffin, producing less soot and toxins. It's a healthier choice for your home, family, and the planet.

Are wooden wicks better than cotton wicks?

Yes! Wooden wicks provide a beautiful crackling sound, a cleaner burn, and create a modern, rustic look. Plus, they come from FSC® certified wood sources for sustainability.

How long do your soy scented candles burn?

As soy wax burns slower than Paraffin wax it is better value for money. Our 250g tin soy scented candles burn for a minimum of 45 hours

Do your candles contain any harmful chemicals?

Nope. We use phthalate-free fragrance oils and never include parabens, lead, or petroleum byproducts. We also use FSC® certified wooden wicks, as even some cotton wicks are actually coated in Paraffin wax to help them burn.

Why does my wooden wick candle tunnel or go out?

Wooden wicks need a bit of love! Always trim your wick (see our blog post on how to look after your wooden wick candle, and you will also receive a wooden wick care card in your delivery)

To Avoid tunnelling you need to let the candle burn long enough to create an even melt pool (simply means let the wax melt from one side of the tin to the other)

Candles have a "memory" so the first burn is important.

Is your packaging eco-friendly?

Yes, our packaging is recyclable, biodegradable, or reusable, because sustainability matters at every step. We recommend you clean out and re-use your tins, they make wonderful plant pots.

How do you support Climate Change?

We donate a proportion of ever candle sold to our Kelp projects. Why is kelp so important? Kelp is an 'ecosystem engineer'. This is a very fancy way of saying that kelp takes greenhouse gasses (GHG) out of the atmosphere, where those  GHGs are then 'fixed' into organic carbon in the ocean to create the crucial kelp structure. This is crucial because the kelp structure provides an important habitat of many juvenile marine animals, and enhances water quality. So kelp can reduce impacts from climate change, enhance biodiversity and improve water quality. This is why we love kelp!

What scents are available in your eco-friendly soy candles?

From beach coconut to cozy gingerbread and refreshing desert cactus or coastal cypress, our scent lineup is Cornish and Californian inspired and free from harmful additives.

Where are your candles made?

All our candles are hand-poured in small batches right here in Cornwall using ethically sourced ingredients.
