As pro athletes , we care a lot about what goes into our bodies with the food we eat, so why should we expect less with the air that we breathe? So many candles (yes, even soy wax candles) have fragrance oils that are not as clean as you would think. That’s why all of our hand-poured soy scented candles are made in small batches using only Paraben and Phthalate free fragrance oils. But what exactly does that mean, and why should you care?
What are Parabens and Phthalates?
Parabens are synthetic preservatives often used in cosmetics and fragrances to prolong shelf life. Phthalates are chemicals used to enhance the strength and longevity of a scent. While they might help fragrances linger, both have raised concerns due to their potential links to hormone disruption and respiratory irritation.
When burned in candles, these compounds can be released into the air you breathe affecting indoor air quality and potentially impacting your health. This is why you should look for not only 100% soy wax, but also make sure the oils used are free from nasty chemicals.

We also use FSC® wooden wicks, as even some cotton wicks can be coated in Paraffin wax to help them burn.
